An easy 15 minute sauteed asparagus recipe that will transform asparagus to a gourmet side! This impressive side dish is perfect for busy weeknights or to serve guests.
I’d never tasted asparagus before I came to Canada but I think I’d seen it a couple of times on television cooking shows. Back then it looked like a really fancy vegetable to be. The kind I thought you’d probably be served at those fancy formal restaurants. I had absolutely no idea what the taste would be like.
I still remember the first time I tasted asparagus. I bought home a bunch and looked for easy asparagus recipes online because I had no idea how to cook it. I put it in the oven with a little bit of olive oil, salt and pepper and roasted it. The only mistake was leaving it in the oven for too long. It turned limp and I was disappointed with the taste.
Since then I learned that regardless of which asparagus recipe you follow, the key is to ensure that you don’t overcook it. Asparagus tastes best when it still has that crunch. It should be tender but still crisp. Another great tip I learned is that asparagus tastes best in simple preparations. When there aren’t too many heavy flavors involved, the refreshing taste of asparagus shines through.
Since then I’ve tried my hands at several different simple, easy asparagus recipes that involve minimal ingredients and the results have been delicious! When I do have some more time on my hands though I like to make this Asparagus and Egg Pizza with my favorite homemade pizza dough recipe. This Brown Butter Chili Garlic Asparagus recipe is a keeper because it takes only 15 minutes to make and involves just about 5 ingredients that you’d already have in your kitchen. But it tastes like a million bucks!
We were greedily wolfing these down because they’re so addictive and you know what makes them addictive? Brown Butter! I’m a diehard fan of brown butter because it has the superpower to transform any dish into an impressive gourmet creation. It has a nutty flavor that adds a different dimension altogether. Combine that with garlic and a little hint of chili and you’ll end up with the most delicious, buttery, addictive easy asparagus recipe you’ve ever found!
