Festive Eggnog French Toast topped with a silky smooth, indulgent Bourbon Sauce. The perfect, easy treat to make Christmas breakfast special for the family!
All through the month of December I always crave for sweet treats. As the beautiful lights and Christmas decorations go up everywhere I’m instantly in the mood for cozy evenings at home, indulging in cookies, cakes and warm puddings.
In the back of my mind I know I’m going to regret it once the New Year sets in but for now, I don’t really care! Most afternoons I’m either elbow deep in flour and chocolaty mess, baking up a storm or thinking about my next baking project.
Breakfast on Christmas morning is special and I always want to make it indulgent and memorable. Let me tell you, this Eggnog French Toast recipe with Bourbon Sauce definitely falls in that category. It is easy enough so you don’t spend the whole morning in the kitchen but fancy enough to impress even your most picky friends.
If you have kids, leave out the bourbon sauce because this French toast is ridiculously delicious on its own. What better way to use up all that leftover eggnog? Plus, a little bourbon in the morning is totally acceptable. It’s Christmas after all!
Here’s why you’ll love this recipe. Eggnog will make your French toast amazingly custardy on the inside and deliciously browned on the outside. The spices add that extra warmth and a lot of good flavor. If that isn’t enough, you’ll definitely fall head over heels in love with the bourbon sauce. It is rich, silky smooth and creamy. Eat both together and it still isn’t overly sweet. Don’t tell but I must’ve had a pitcher of this bourbon sauce on its own even before I managed to put it on the French toast!
Make this on Christmas morning and you’ll know why I’m crazy about this breakfast idea. See you all soon with another special Christmas recipe!
